Robby Walsh Receives Service Award

St. Albans varsity lacrosse associate head coach Robby Walsh was just announced as the inaugural recipient of the Father Allen P. Novotny Service Award.
The Gonzaga Alumni Association initiated the award, given in memory of Gonzaga’s 34th president, to recognize alumni who have made significant contributions to non-profit, charitable, or humanitarian causes or organizations.
Out of thousands of Gonzaga alumni, Walsh, the lone recipient, was picked for his service work with Bike to the Beach, an event which raises considerable funding for autism awareness.
In addition to an award presentation on February 7 at a Gonzaga Alumni Association meeting, Walsh may also receive recognition at halftime of this weekend’s Gonzaga-DeMatha basketball game.
In 5 years as a St. Albans coach, Walsh has mentored 13 defensive players who have gone on to play at the college level, including two High School All-Americans. In 2009, US Lacrosse selected Coach Walsh as its sole “Assistant Coach of the Year” recipient among the hundreds of assistant coaches in the area.
